When traveling, finding a good hostel is part of the adventure, right? But how do you find the ‘perfect’ place?
Apo Island is a tiny island in the Philippines, south of Negros Island. I had never heard of it until I started my diving trip in Bohol, Philippines. I went for a few dives in Alona and on Balicasag island and initially planned to move on to Puerto Galera, then Coron. But when I asked other divers and the local dive masters about the “best diving spot in the Philippines”, “Apo island” was almost always one of their first replies.
Bohol is one of the provinces in the central Visaya’s region. It comprises Bohol island and many smaller surrounding islands.
Want to walk in the footsteps of the ancient indigenous people of the Philippines? Interested in culture and history? Then I suggest you visit the Ifugao region north of Manila. You will be able to walk through 2000 year old rice terraces, built with minimal equipment by locals whose descendants still plant rice and vegetables on the terraces today.
